Reiki is stressing on hand position and reiki symbol during the healing process. Sei He Ki and Cho Ku Rei symbols are drawn three times  on the affected parts and hands are placed as per the training manual. These hand positions are very important for reiki treatment to be  effective. Hands are considered to have a natural healing power, did you ever noticed when you got a headache your hands automatically goes to your forehead and start massaging , like that when you got a stomach pain it goes there and start rubbing which gives a comfort feeling. Hands are God’s natural healing instrument. In reiki, hands are used as a medium for energy transfer and hence it is very improtant to keep the hands in right posture as suggested by reiki master.
